Learning About Collaboration From FLOCK

I was really excited that co-creators of FLOCK, Alice and Florian reached out to DancerMusic.com to cover their first full length show “A FLOCK Evening”. Not only did I want to learn more about the pieces they choreographed, I was really interested in their collaboration and mission within their company. I wanted to learn more about how they started FLOCK, and their upcoming plans for the company.

I have known both Alice and Florian for about two years now — ever since I have started dancing at the Hubbard Street Professional Program. They are both the most kind, selfless people. They are so much fun to be around, not to mention how incredibly well they work together. The dynamic between the two of them is so effortless. Every time I am in the studio with them either for class or for a creative process, the environment they create is so positive and up-lifting. There is so much joy from everyone in the room. As artists, sometimes we may get caught up in the tension or frustration that revolves around creation. We sometimes can forget the true reason why we are involved in this art form. However, with Alice and Florian it is the exact opposite. There is no tension, no frustration, and just pure joy. That to me is so refreshing!
